George is a billionaire and the founder of the hedge fund. According to people who are close to the matter, Soros directed various massive and bearish investments. According to a Wall Street Journal, George had taken a long break from trading. However, his comeback is marked with the series of investments he has made recently.

George is the founder of Soros Fund Management LLC. It manages about $30 billion for George and his family. Soros Fund Management LLC manages sold stocks and bought gold as well as shares of gold miners in various markets. It anticipates weakness in different markets. Most investors consider gold to be a harbor during times of havoc.

The moves are an important shift for George, who got fame when he bet against the British pound in 1992. The trend earned Soros profits of $1 billion. The 85-year-old investor is currently focusing on public policy and being a philanthropist.

George is the founder of Soros Fund Management, and he is the chair. He also chairs the Open Society Foundations. Soros was born in Budapest in the year 1930, and he survived Nazi occupation that existed during the World War II. George fled to England in 1947 from a Communist-dominated Hungary. Soros graduated from London School of Economics then later settled in the United States. While in the U.S, George accumulated a vast fortune through his investment fund.

George is an active philanthropist since 1979. He began by giving funds to black students who were attending Cape Town University in South Africa. As a result of his philanthropic work, the Open Society currently operates in more than 100 countries. The society recorded an annual expenditure of $835 million as at 2011.
